Poland is situated in the heart of Europe, at a
crossing of roads and cultures. Its boundaries are formed by the Baltic Sea to the

WARSAW CAPITAL OF POLAND
Warsaw's past gave rise to many legends. One of
them speaks of a mermaid - halfwoman, half-fish - swimming in the waves of the blue
Vistula River to appear in front the Mazovian fisherman, and foretell the founding
of an indestructible city. The capital of Poland is located on both banks of the
Vistula River. Warsaw offers an unlimited number of attractions: historical sights,
monuments, museums, theatres and Chopin's enchanting music, Maria Skłodowska-Curie,
the place she was born. From Castle Square to Chopin's monument, from Łazienki Park to
Wilanów Palace, Warsaw is an exciting city waiting to be discovered.
HOW TO GET HERE
Poland is easily accessible from all parts of the world by air, car, coach and train. The Okęcie Airport
is situated in the city, and takes half and hour to get to the center. Well organized
public transport in Warsaw by metro, busses and trams makes easy access to most of
tourist attraction.
CLIMATE
Poland lies in the zone of moderate climate, intermediate between
the marine and continental climates. The weather can be quite changeable. In
August/September the temperature ranges from 15°C to 20°C.
CURRENCY, SHOPPING, DINNING etc
Poland lies in Central European Time.
The official Polish unit of currency is the zloty. Major convertible
foreign currencies may be changed into Polish zlotys at banks, hotels and private
currency-exchange offices - the kantors. All major credit cards are accepted. Most
banks are open from 09:00 - 18:00 without lunch break.
Poland's power supply is 220V/50Hz, Round European-style two-pin plugs are used.
110/60Hz electrical equipment requires an adapter.
Poland is fast becoming a shopper's paradise. The most popular
souvenir is amber from the Baltic Sea. Each individual piece can be fashioned into
a pendant, ring, bracelet, or earrings. Poland is also known for its silver jewellery.
Small family-owned galleries sell handmade crafts and pottery as well as glassware
and carved figurines. Poles are known for their hospitality and love of food. The
Polish kitchen is known for its delicious soups and unusual deserts and sweets.
In the summer, sample our delectable strawberries and cherries. At the same time,
almost all cuisines from all over the world are available in Poland.
